Sport plays a very important part in our school. We endeavour to give the children a taste of many sports, from team games to individual pursuits. We encourage sport and movement for all! Through the PE curriculum, visiting coaches, in-school initiatives such as Daily Mile and Walk on Wednesdays, we want to keep everyone in our school community healthy and well.

We have invited many different coaches into the school to work with our pupils. Most recently we have had camogie, Gaelic football and rugby sessions on Tuesday mornings. We sincerely thank all of the coaches who come to the school to help us out!

On the competitive side, we enter boys and girls football every autumn. We also play the mini sevens competitions every March. Rounders takes place as the summer months approach. We enter the cross country in Fairyhouse and the athletics day in Claremont every year. We also had our first school entrant in a shooting event recently! We hope to be able to add other sports and competitions in the coming years.

One of the most enjoyable days of sport is our annual Sports Day. This is truly a community event with a large audience creating a fun and celebratory atmosphere.

We run the Fr.Bannon and Mrs.Rogan cups each June. In these football competitions our 6th class pupils manage teams of younger players each lunchtime. This is a highlight of our school year. Many a successful football career can be traced back to these great competitions!
