The Parents’ Council plays a vital support role to the school. Along with the fundraising events that are organised there are many fun events that have been organised by the Parents Council that the Children have thoroughly enjoyed. (See Gallery below).

All parents are invited to join the activities of our Parents Council. By joining in, you have the opportunity to contribute your ideas, unique skills and perspectives to enhance the overall experience for everyone involved.

Over the past few years, the Parents Council focused on raising funds that would cover the ‘recurring’ annual costs incurred by the school. These expenses include the costs for hiring the buses for the weekly swimming lessons and school tours, medals for sports day, costs for hosting the Communion and Graduation parties.

During 2023, the Parents’ Council were in a position to give the school €6,000 towards the purchase of ipads and ancillary equipment. These ipads will be used in the school for many years to come.

We also purchased a portable speaker and mic, which has been used extensively over the year and we can all agree has been a great addition to the school. A new school banner was also purchased which has been used at sporting events and school photos.

Over the past year there has been a number of fun activities held. These events would not have happened had it not been for the brilliant parents who had volunteered their time to organise and run them.

We had our inaugural Halloween Disco which was a massive success. The kids had the best fun and can’t wait for the next school disco.

We held our Christmas Fair on the Sunday 10th December. The Christmas Fair was enjoyed by everyone who attended and the children especially loved being in charge of their own stalls. It was a great sense of achievement for them to make their own crafts and sell them.

We held our Christmas Raffle on Friday 15th December in Halla Clodagh with the assistance of all the students. There was great excitement and we cannot express enough our appreciation to all the local business and individuals who donated prizes. Congrats to all of our winners.

We also had a visit from Santa on the 21st December. He brought great excitement to the classrooms and it was lovely to see the kids, especially the younger ones singing to him. A special thank you for Amanda Gough for the fabulous gift bags she put together for each child. She was a very busy lady in December.

The most memorable event hosted in the school last year was by far, the Oristown 1000 fundraiser. It was such a special day for the school community. The sun came out for us and we were a sea of yellow. The school raised a massive €7,635 on the day for Children’s Cancer Fund.

 

 

There are plans in place for events coming up between now and the summer holidays. We have Confirmation, Easter, Holy Communion, Graduation Party to name a few.

Last year ended with a visit from an Ice-Cream van and we would hope to be in a position to organise that again this year.

We understand that everyone has busy schedules and your time is valuable. However, even a small commitment can make a significant impact. Whether its helping organise an event, participating in meetings or contributing ideas, your involvement is valued and appreciated.
